OPINION - Should there be as many players in the 'team pro'?

By Sebasdess.
Yesterday morning (February 9), PokerStars announced its '2011 class'. In total, 15 new faces join the team Pokerstars pro online. Not less than 4500 candidates came forward to be part of the team of the prestigious PokerStars site, which counted among these ranks most of the champions of the world since 2003 (Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Peter Eastgate, Joe Cada, Jonathan Duhamel).

Here is the class of 2011 all newly appointed as well as their results according to PokerTableRatings. Note that these results do not take into account tournament gains (besides PeachyMer, Shaniac and Cnew27, others all have negligible results or losses in tournaments):

When we consult the list of new recruits to the Team PokerStars, there is what scratching his head and softly say a "wtf?" Most of the new recruits are simply unknown to the general public. Some (cnew27 and foucault82) are known through their participation on 2 + 2; Jorge Limon is a rally racing driver, Mikhail Shalamov is the former holder of the largest number of hands played in a single day (40 088) and Kevin Thurman (who has made the PokerCollectif year passed through its history's most inspiring) is the holder of the record for the largest number of VIP Player Point accumulated in a given year.

But... perhaps also some players as Kevin Thurman, who amply deserved his spot on the team, how can you otherwise qualify the caliber of this team other than pitiful? Many players more talented could be chosen well before most of the players on this list.

Having so many players within the team sites pro (think players 'red pro' FullTilt Poker or team PokerStars pro) is it harmful to these world champions or these figures known to the world of poker? -What is one day, the teams pros will be accrued only "rakeback pros" which most players are unknown to the general public? The question is worthy to be asked!

What do you think? Is these players deserve their place in the team online pro? What is a 'online pro' team brings really something? Give your opinion on the question to the forum: is that there are too many players in the Team Online Pro?
