PokerCollectif informed you of cela almost 2 years ago, that the expected release of the sequel to the classic Rounders would be repelled.
At the base, the movie was supposed to come out in 2012, but several small problems have made so that the output had to be postponed.
Earlier this week (Monday, to be precise), The Weinstein Company (owned by Harvey Weinstein and his brother) told the website Deadline Hollywood:
«I discussed the production of the movie Rounders 2 with Matt Damon and it's going to be done under [...]» Screenwriters (David Levien and Brian Koppelman) had a great idea that should give the film one side more international, with including a first part in Paris. A beautiful French actress might be in the cast and subsequently would take place in Las Vegas with well sure Matt Damon and Edward Norton, not to mention a new villain to take over from John Malkovich".
According to rumors, this "nasty" could be played by none other than Robert De Niro. At the time of this writing, nothing is official yet, but Weinstein insists many convincing De Niro if we did the Deadline Hollywoodarticle.
Deadline says that this rebound follows the acquisition by The Qatar Holding companies and Colony Capital of the catalogue of Miramax films in 2010 (for a total of $ 660 million).
In closing, include that Harvey Weinstein had said in January 2012 for the sequel to Rounders: "I love the idea of doing a sequel, because there is an aspect of history that we have not developed. I want to do, because there are things that have not been said."
