Following the merger of Bwin and PartyPoker which has greatly reduced the Ongame network, here is another departure of this network: Betfair has just announced last week that he would be leaving the Ongame network rather towards iPoker. Barely six months ago, the Ongame network was ranked 4th in terms of traffic (behind PokerStars, PartyPoker and iPoker); It is now the 15th ranked behind networks such as Bodog (or even of the little-known as 'Dollaro' networks).
Betfair does this change with the aim of relaunching its online poker room, which has had its share of fix in the last months. Betfair now wishes to concentrate in regulated markets. Note that the «poker» Betfair division represents only a small part of the total turnover of Betfair (division 'casino' is about 3 times as large, while betting is nearly 15 times larger!).
On the side of iPoker, it welcomes the arrival of Betfair. This addition would not be sufficient to delight the 3rd place at PartyPoker, but this will allow them to still compete again with them. The change will begin gradually at the end of the month so that Betfair players will have access to iPoker (via their "New Betfair") and Ongame (via their "Classic Betfair", to finally migrate completely on iPoker in July 2013.
