This subject been much chat on our forums, and to set things straight, we'll specify this new method of calculation. Several questions were raised and we will attempt to answer them.
From January 1, 2012, PokerStars is reviewing its way to collect VPPS and therefore, the way to collect FPP credits. For information, 1 VPP is equal to 1 FPP when you have the lowest status VIP at PokerStars, i.e. "BronzeStar" status. Only FPPS can be used to spend in the shop (for promotional items, entries in tournaments, etc). When you mount VIP status, you have a multiplying factor of your VPP according the following Charter:
SilverStars: x1.5
GoldStar: x 2
Platinum Star: x2.5
Supernova: x3.5
Supernova Elite: x 5
Historically, the VPP in the cash games were distributed evenly between all players who were involved in a hand. The new method of calculation will distribute VPPS in a proportional manner, depending on the amount of money to which players have contributed in a pot.
To make this clearer, let's take an example:
Five players are involved in a hand of $ 1 / $ 2 Hold'em ' no limit.
Preflop:
Player 1 raise $ 6
Player 2 fold
Player 3 fold
4 on the small blind call $ 5 player
Player 5 on the big blind call $ 4
Post-flop:
Player 4 $9
Player 5 pushes all in for $ 21
Player 1 fold
4 player call
After 5 cards have been drawn, it is ultimately the 4 player who wins the pot of $ 60.
Therefore, the total pot was $ 60 and 4 and 5 players have made $ 27 each in this pot. Player 1 in turn will put $ 6. The total rake for that pot will be $ 3, which is worth 16, 5VPP.
In the old system, each player involved in that pot would have received 3.3VPP (16, 5VPP/5joueurs).
With the new method of calculation, the distribution is as follows:
Player 1 has contributed $ 6 pot (10%) and therefore, will receive 10% of 16, 5VPP, or 1.65 VPP
Player 2 will have 0 VPP for $ 0
Player 3 has 0 VPP for $ 0
The 4 player will have 7.43 VPP for $ 27 (which corresponds to 45% of the pot)
The 5 player will be 7.43 VPP for $ 27.
This system will affect only the cash games and not the tournaments and sitNgo. It is important to note that the VPP are awarded at the end of a hand and that, therefore, if you leave a table until the hand is finished, you will not be credited these vpps. When you intend to leave a table, so it's more profitable for you to check the box: "sitout next hand" or "sitout next big blind" in order to be sure to get your VPP. A forgotten will likely change nothing, but if it is a bad habit that you take each of your sessions, at the end of the year, it's probably a few hundred dollars that you won't.
This new method of calculation will therefore ensure that the nits (tight, tight players) will have less VPP and therefore less PokerStars rakeback and conversely, players more looses (with a high VPIP) will have more VPPS and therefore more rakeback.
For what is the rake to try tables until NL10000 tables the rake will be calculated as follows:
2 players at the table: $ 0.05 rake per dollar in the pot up to a maximum of $ 0.50
3 players at the table: $ 0.05 rake per dollar in the pot up to a maximum of $ 1
4 or 5 players at the table: $ 0.05 rake per dollar in the pot up to a maximum of $ 2
6 to 10 players at the table: $ 0.05 rake per dollar in the pot up to a maximum of $ 3.
Please note that the rule of "No. flop No. drop" applies. In other words, no matter the size of the pot, if it is won preflop, nobody will pay rake on the pot.
With respect to the parts of heads up, the rake is $ 0.05 per dollar in the pot up to a maximum of $ 0.50 and regardless of the performed limit.
