The legal situation of the poker online in the United States is always also blurred. For now, we know that poker online in the United States is still not legal, but some States are working on its legalization. Among them, thought the Nevada of course, but also to California which is less conservative than the majority of American States. With its 37 million people, California would form an interesting pool of poker players, what would that bring new revenues to the State which has needed for some time.
Since 2007 so, several proposals have been submitted to offer legal online poker to the citizens of California. But since that date, still no proposal was met with success. The proposal drafted by Darrell Steinberg doesn't have much chance of success at the end of the parliamentary session from 31 August.
Mr Steinberg is President of the Senate of the State of California and has teamed with Rod Wright to prepare this proposal. Unfortunately, since the submission of this project, too few people have shown enthusiastic to the idea of regulation of poker online in California. Several other points are disputed. For example, a package of $ 30 million would be required to be eligible for the licence. All do not agree on the same points.
Even the California Online Poker Association, which brings together 29 native American tribes and 31 rooms games, is not in favour of the adoption of the text in the State. Most influential Native American tribes are also strongly opposed.
As would be the case in Nevada, online poker rooms who will want to offer poker to all U.S. citizens will have to partner with a local group to a licence. It is in this context that bwin.party recently joined the United Auburn Indian Community of California and Cantor Gaming is associated with the Horse Racing United. It must surely see by this new online poker rooms are fairly optimistic about the future of poker online in California!
