Le mois de novembre débute en force avec le nouvel opus de la franchise Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Disponible sur PlayStation 4, Xbox One et Windows PC, Advanced Warfare s'efforce enfin d'apporter un peu d'originalité à la série. Qu'en disent les critiques?

Difficile de faire le tour de ce que propose ce Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare tant son contenu est colossal. Tout est pensé pour que chacun y trouve son plaisir. Si vous aimez le solo, alors Sledgehammer vous servira une campagne haletante et variée pendant 7 à 8 heures, avec un duo Spacey / Baker très intense, mis en valeur par une mise en scène et par des cinématiques d'une grande qualité. Pour les amateurs de multijoueur, la formule est ici grandement améliorée par le gameplay ultra-dynamique et par les deux nouveaux modes, très réussis. Enfin, l'accessibilité du titre, sa profondeur et son ambition en font clairement un incontournable du FPS. Chapeau Sledgehammer, et bonne chance à Infinity Ward et Treyarch qui vont avoir du mal à passer après cela...

Call of Duty : Advanced Warfare est sans nul doute le FPS qu’il ne faudra pas manquer en cette fin d’année sur consoles next gen’, et restera dans les mémoires collectives comme celui du renouveau. Sledgehammer vient de frapper un grand coup et en profite pour mettre un grand coup de pression à Treyarch et Infinity Ward.

If the settings of today have run their course just as World War II did years ago, Advanced Warfare makes for a convincing foundation of futuristic yet relatable combat that is worth exploring and expanding further. The huge change in player mobility is less of a paradigm shift and more of an overdue retooling for an 11-year-old FPS franchise, especially in a year of mobility-focused shooters. Yet for all its predictability, Advanced Warfare is a deluge of action-film bravado, and it's difficult to not be carried away by its tidal forces.

After a slow slide towards mediocrity, Advance Warfare halts the decline with style and imagination. It's another Call of Duty, familiar and at times frustrating - but it is without doubt the finest Call of Duty for some years.

For whatever minor missteps Advanced Warfare makes with its story, it more than compensates with vision and remarkable execution. The latter has never really been Call of Duty's problem — Ghosts notwithstanding — but Advanced Warfare adds enough and moves far enough forward with its new abilities to feel like a risk. Turns out, that's just what the series needed.

Despite the familiarity, it's been years since a Call of Duty campaign was as coherent and fast-paced as this one. Within the confines of its franchise, which has yet to make much room for a mature look at the subject matter, Advanced Warfare works with aplomb and, at the very least, plays its Big Dumb Movie card wisely. If you're running out of bad guys, borrow some from Hollywood.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s single-player campaign is a ridiculous summer movie romp with sobering visions of the future of weaponry. Bring popcorn, because the real fun begins with the multiplayer, where the wealth of customization options should have players coming back for game after game.
