Alan Patrick (12-0) est un spécialiste de Jiu-jitsu brésilien. On était supposé le voir à l'oeuvre lors du prochain UFC (179), mais malheureusement, son nom a dû être retiré de la carte.
À l'entraînement, il a reçu un coup de genou à la mâchoire qui lui a fracturé cette dernière (voir photo plus bas).
Selon ses propres mots, il prévoit se battre à nouveau dans l'octogone en décembre seulement.
Il affirme: "I was training and was hit by a knee. I was using a mouthguard, but it hit the bottom of my mouth. I have never been hit by such a knee before. It went right into my chin. Now, I will have to put a titanium plate on my chin. If I wasn’t going to be hit anymore, I wouldn’t have to do it, but as a fighter, I have to be cautious…In about a month, I’ll be able to resume doing cardio, and after another month, I’ll resume with the soft-contact training. I expect to fight in December."
