Interview with Kirb / Kirbinator. Kirb is a member on this extremely forums PokerCollectif with his post and 20,000! It has so many final tables career in online tournaments that are even more surprised every time he makes a new one. Interview with a legend.
PokerCollectif: Hello Kirb! Sorry for the picture. That you, and Patnitrof Nocturnik is the only photo we have!
Kirb: Hello! This is actually probably the picture of me the latest, but you should apologize to Patnitrof: this is perhaps not the best with beer on his shirt and everything ...
PokerCollectif Note: A photo of Patnitrof without beer on his shirt, it does not exist.
PokerCollectif: First, congratulations on your 2nd place yesterday at the event 61 WCOOP on PokerStars ! Not too disappointed?
Kirb: hehe! Na!
PokerCollectif: You play more 'mixed-games. " For what reason?
Kirb: I played repeatedly HORSE tournaments and mixed games in recent months with success. I really started to enjoy these games lately. Initially, I decided to try some of these tournaments to try to make more points for the different series (FTOPS, WCOOP, etc..) To clinch first place in the Online Player Of The Year of CardPlayers . I quickly started to like it and tried to improve. I thought I left this race, but my second place puts me in the race, so I have no choice to win!
Note PokerCollectif: Kirb is currently ranked; it was between the second and fifth place much of the year. With his recent second place, it currently ranks 4 th. Past winners of this race, in addition to the main page of CardPlayers magazine, all received sponsorship contracts. You can see the rankings at the following link: Ranking Of Online Player of the Year CardPlayers
PokerCollectif: On what do you consider variants that you had an advantage? What alternatives are your weaknesses?
Kirb: The Triple Draw is by far my worst choice! I believe to be of medium caliber Stud and Stud 8-or-better. My advantage was light in razz, but I have a good advantage in Limit Hold'em and No-Limit and Pot-Limit Omaha that.
PokerCollectif: Regarding Triple Draw, let's talk about the incident that there was with Daniel Negreanu. You deliberately delayed the game in order to play this variant the minimum possible hands. That you drew the wrath of Daniel Negreanu, who is a specialist in triple-draw and already won a bracelet in this variant in addition to writing the chapter tripledraw in the famous book by Doyle Brunson, Super System II. He called you a angle shooter (someone who abuses the rules in place in order to give an unfair advantage). Do you think Daniel complains wisely, or is it caught fire for not much?
Kirb: I'm the one who was clearly in the wrong. These words and those of others may be more or less considered inappropriate, but I realized in the last days it was perhaps the worst thing to do in this kind of tournament.
PokerCollectif: You defended on twoplustwo saying that you had sold 50% of your shares and you said to those people who had supported you that you retarderais the game during these variants, since it is something that happened regularly in other tournaments. You said have over-rated the amount of players that were delayed some variants. You are therefore set to face a big dilemma: to respect your word to those who have supported you some tournament or user of honor and play tripledraw. Is what you'd do the same if it again?
Kirb: Yes, I put myself in a situation where I realized that what I was doing was really really bad, but having said to those who bought a% of my tournament I would delay the game ... say that the situation was complicated! Especially since we came very close to the money and that I was at that time below the average. It could make the difference between $ 17,000 in prizes or $ 0.
I made a decision and I have said repeatedly, I'm going to try it and I understand. I just hope it will not be too much of a task on my picture for years to come because I do not think I have done something in the past five years and I am sorry enough!
PokerCollectif: The fact that it comes from Daniel Negreanu and he publicly wrote about your place rather hard when he is an ambassador for PokerStars, followed in addition to another Team PokerStars Pro, Maridu Mayrinck, which said really derogatory place your comments. Do you think it was moved from them? Do you think it took too much scope?
Kirb: I think it was especially moved from a pro [Maridu Mayrinck] who was not even part of the tournament and that his comments were really insulting. She also sent me a private message to apologize, and I'm happy about it. For the rest, let's say I really thought it was vastly more common than in facts. So I was expecting a lot less reaction.
PokerCollectif: you would do the same in the same circumstances?
Kirb: With what I said to those who bought shares my tournament totaling half my entry fee, I think it was hard to do otherwise. If I could remove this part of the discussion on the sale of my shares, it is clear that I would not behave the same way. The tripledraw is not even a game so hard! With less than 100 hands played this game in my life, I was really intimidated. Moreover, during the first round of the game, I got completely demolished. I think a huge part was because I was unlucky, but it obviously did not help that I play the next round.
PokerCollectif: Finally, you've managed to get you to the final table. The final table was then the next day. Is that there were players that you feared particularly the final table? Is it that there were players who you believe have a good advantage?
Kirb: I believe in my chances at the final table. The leader was not very aggressive and the other players were rather predictable. Nachobarbero (a member of Team PokerStars Pro) was probably the one I feared the most.
PokerCollectif: At some point on the final table, you found yourself being the leader. What is your strategy changed at that time?
Kirb: It was in the middle of "fixed" games. My strategy continues to be to play a solid game and my grinder my carpet ones. It's harder to maintain the pressure in this kind of event because it is difficult to force an opponent to shove.
PokerCollectif: At some point, you found yourself the chip leader. You then lost again a few chips and No-Limit Hold'em, you have fallen back 130,000 chips. Bad luck? Kravchenko was solid or NLHE?
Kirb: I was leader for about 2 hands I think! Lol! I do not know how to answer your question, but say Kravchenko has played passively and its 2 pairs left me amazed my 7-high. Then I lost against A5 A3 in a battle of the blinds. It then changed to Omaha: I just was hoping that the short stack gets taken out as soon as possible so that I can play against Kravchenko without having to worry about finishing in 3rd place.
PokerCollectif: As you wished, you found yourself face to face against Kravchenko. You then looked for an agreement. He offered you $ 2000 + that calculate the ICM. Why did not you accept?
Kirb: I think he was a good player, but fairly predictable. I had 10 minutes PLO and I think it was one of the games he was the lowest.
PokerCollectif: The tripledraw was beginning immediately after. Would you then renegotiated the agreement after the Pot-Limit Omaha? Would you delayed tripledraw? Lol
Kirb: I mentioned that I would not have delayed the final table and I would not have done. Shortly before the start of the second day, I had a bit of coaching with Ouimet on how to play the tripledraw shorthanded. I do not think he would have demolished me heads-up tripledraw because it is primarily a game of chance in my opinion, with some small bluffs here and there on the last draw. By cons, if I won the all-in when I had the best hand and he wanted to make a deal, I would of course accepted!
PokerCollectif: Nowadays, more and more players are specialized in one variant (usually the No-Limit Hold'em). Do you think the future is mixed games? Do you think a player No-Limit Hold'Em have interest in learning other variants would do to improve their general skills in poker?
Kirb: Good question! I asked the same thing recently, ie if there was money to be made for example by playing cash games now that I'm pretty decent in these variants. I think for the series online and the WSOP is a very good idea. These tournaments are very softs in general if you take the time to learn to play. For CASHGAMES, I think it can take a long time to catch up with regular winning players. I do not think there is a lot of clean fish.
PokerCollectif: Thanks Kirb! And good luck in your race for first place in the "Online Player Of the Year."
Kirb Thank you! And thank you for having invented the Sebasdess pokère.
