Here now several months that PokerCollectif you talk about, but it's now official. Nevada legalized online poker! On February 21, the State of Nevada has officially adopted a law legalizing online poker. This Act also allows residents of Nevada to play with other Americans (there where permitted by law), which is obviously desirable given the small pool of players that Nevada represents.
The Assembly and the Senate voted unanimously the draft law entitled "Assembly Bill 14" and it was signed by Brian Sandoval (who declared: "this is a historic day.) This is the day where the Navada crossed a new frontier of the game") to be official. Nevada thus takes the front on New Jersey who could follow the example soon. This is what an article in the Las Vegas Sun lately taught us.
Nevada has only 2.7 million residents, but could become partner with New Jersey and Delaware when these two States will offer their poker tour online to their residents (Finally, hopefully).
Following this news, Pete Ernaut, lobbyist for the Nevada Resort Association said: "we do not want to submit to a competition excessive those who have invested billions to build magnificent resorts in Las Vegas and Reno and this is why we have limited it to poker".
Several licences have already been granted to offer to residents of Nevada online poker. Among operators, it should be noted the absence of the PokerStars giant who, as had explained you recently, acts as a "bad actor". For this reason, PokerStars is unable to offer online poker before 5 years. Many had suggested that the license fee for PokerStars could be frothed at 1 M$ (rather than the $ 500,000 usual), but this proposal was ultimately rejected. This license will be available for hotels that have an unrestricted licence to act as a gaming operator.
The absence of PokerStars during 5 years of the market will surely make the happiness of the smaller rooms that will have not to compete with this giant.
In closing, with respect to New Jersey, we will know on February 26 If yes or no online poker will be legal in that State. We we cross the fingers so that the basin of the larger players as possible. Remember that other States are also good voice to legalize poker online such as Delaware.
In the meantime, discuss this news on PokerCollectif forums: online poker became legal in Nevada!
