Last March, PokerCollectif learned you that Zynga and Facebook were taking their distances.
This is a paper submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission confirmed.
The impact has been quite negative for Zynga, who hoped to get more independence to launch games with real money on the margins of Facebook (its partnership with Facebook prevented).
But Zynga, having distanced himself from Facebook, lost lots of visibility (Facebook is one of the most visited websites in the world). Many criticised this decision.
Following this news, Zynga had signed a partnership with bwin.party to offer its real money games. See our article on the subject: agreement between Zynga and bwin.party!
It should be remembered that, according to the official announcement: "today's announcement is another example of the success of our model, to leverage our assets through first-rate partners. Zynga is the world leader in social games, it has a base of hundreds of millions of players around the world and is very present in the United Kingdom. We are delighted to have been selected as their preferred partner in this important stage in their evolution. "We hope in the future further this relationship, through other products and in other markets."
In the opinion of shareholders, it was not a good decision for the future of Zynga, which is pulled a ball into the foot according to their own words. It should be noted that the action of Zynga is currently trading at $ 2.32 USD while its initial value was $ 10 share (source: http://www.zonebourse.com/ZYNGA-INC-9625945/).
Forbes magazine was also of the opinion that it was a very bad idea: "Although it would be a bit extreme to declare that (this Agreement) sounds the death knell for Zynga, the announcement made raise serious doubts about the ability of the company to provide dividends. Zynga may remain viable at the pace where things are going?"
Today, we learn that things have changed. The agreement has been amended and States: "If Facebook allows online games real money on the Facebook site of the countries where Zynga offers online real money games, Zynga will subsequently launch such games on the Facebook website". In other words, much more visibility for these games!
The amendment of the agreement between Zynga and Facebook did say to Barry Cottle, Director of Zynga revenues: "our agreement amended with Facebook continues the success of our long partnership while allowing us the flexibility to ensure universal availability of our products and services".
So we can now say it with certainty, Zynga will propose the poker with real money. Unfortunately, no precise date has yet been given. But it would be too risky to say that it will be the year of 2013.
PokerCollectif will give you further details this folder as soon as they will be made public!
