PokerCollectif had spoken you recently of the appointments of a few players to the PokerHall of Fame.
These people included Annie Duke, Barry Greenstein, Jennifer Harman, John Juanda, Marcel Luske, Jack Mc Clelland, Tom Mc Evoy, Scotty Nguyen and Hucklenerry Seed. As expected, players with ties to Full Tilt Poker were not selected for obvious reasons. The frustration is still too strong to deliver, for example, the price to Annie Duke, Howard Lederer's sister, pillar at Full Tilt Poker.
This year, new entrants in the Poker Hall of Fame are Barry Greenstein and Linda Johnson. These two names were nominated by the public on the Internet and selected by the 18 members still alive of the Poker Hall of Fame as well as a panel of 17 specialized journalists. The 'Robin Hood' and the 'first lady' Poker will be officially inducted on November 8, at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas, in the final of the Main Event at the World Series of Poker.
The name of Barry Greenstein is not at all surprising and this was our prediction at PokerCollectif. For the little story, Barry Greenstein, before becoming player poker pro, earned his living at Symantec, small company at the time located in Silicon Valley. He was editor of instruction manual in English for the software. At the age of 36, he left his job to devote himself full time to the poker. In 1992, Barry participated in the Main Event of the WSOP and ranks 22nd. He also finished fourth in the tournament No. Limit Deuce to Seven Draw of 1997 and won prizes in two tournaments the following year. In 2003, he won one million dollars at the Larry Flynt's Poker Challenge Cup. And it still continues for him (cash game, other bracelets, etc).
In all, he reached a place paid 52 times at the WSOP to eventually win 3 bracelets and 2 WPT titles.
But Greenstein is known for his great generosity. His career tournament earnings are estimated at 7. 5 M$ and in redistributed much to works of charity, which is not nothing. He is also the author of the famous book Ace on the river. He is also known for winning a famous challenge: he had to pronounce the words "LOL Donkament" on television during a broadcast of poker to win $ 10,000.
When Linda Johnson who also soon come into the Poker Hall of Fame, she is the first woman to have won a WSOP bracelet and she is the second woman to see its name to the famous temple of celebrity poker players after Barbara Enright. Linda Johnson is also known for being editor of the magazine Card Player from 1993 to 2001.
Congratulations to these two figures striking world of poker for their entry into the Poker Hall of Fame.
