The Epic Poker League is a series of poker tournaments that began in 2011 by the Federated Sport + Gaming.
The League has as Executive Chairman Jeffrey Pollack and as a Commissionaire, Annie Duke. All events in this series of tournaments take place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Last year, Michael DiVita decides to participate in a $ 1500 satellite tournament and won the 1st prize, an entry for a $ 20,000 of Hold'em Tournament ' no limit. While trying to register for the tournament at the Palms, it makes outbursts by security who decides to chase him the casino walls. The reason? Divita has a criminal record for a sexual crime with a child under the age of 18 years. This offence is contrary to the Charter of the League Epic and their code of conduct. DiVita repay $ 1500 and is forced to return home.
From this moment on, DiVita requires that the Palms reimbursed not the entry price of the satellite ($1500) tournament, but the price of entry in the tournament for which he would register, $ 20,000. After all, it has complied with the rules of the tournament, he has paid his entry fee, and he won.
Later, Nevada Gambling Control Board gets involved and gives reason to DiVita who ordered at the Palms to repay the difference to DiVita, $ 18,500.
According to the decision made by the Gaming Control Board: "We oblige hereby the Palms Casino Resort to pay $ 18,500 to the plaintive". According to them, DiVita has complied with the rules and the Palms is in this story as a third party and should not exclude DiVita of the tournament. DiVita participated in the tournament, paid his entry fee and won.
In less than 20 days, Divita received his cheque!
