During a recent podcast (see below), Joe Rogan was attempting to explain why Jon Jones is disliked by many fans of MMA.
According to him, the fact that Jon Jones is black made sure some do not like him.
More objectively, Jon Jones is one of the best fighters of all time, but he is still a young arrogant man (if you follow his Twitter account, you will understand right away). Many of his posts on Twitter are so arrogant that he himself delete them (including some direct attacks to people that follow him).
Jon Jones should be appreciated. After all, his fights are often excellent to see.
This is normal, according to Rogan, to be a bit arrogant when you are a young man of 25 years having as much success, especially when you are one of the best fighter on Earth, pound for pound.
But Jon Jones has "haters", many "haters". According to Rogan, if Jones was white, there are less. Take the case of Chael Sonnen for example, an expert in the field of "trash talk". Even if Sonnen is more arrogant than Jones, it is still less hated.
But, if Sonnen is a much worse fighter than Jones, he still has a talent that Jones did not: that to be good speaker and know well to promote themselves, which might explain that people are less severe to Sonnen that Jones.
In closing, Rogan said that, even if it is sometimes arrogant Jones, it Miss never one of his fights. It is still a chance to see fighting as good fighter.
