The brand of chips Lay's announced last week the four flavors from the contest 'Do me a flavor'. These flavours will be on sale in the United States and it will be possible to vote for the best flavor until October 18. The winner will win $ 1 million!
The four selected flavors are... "Wasabi & ginger", "Mac & cheese with bacon", "Cappuccino" and 'Mango Salsa'.
The Business Insider magazine tried them all. Here are their comments, ordered from worst to best:
#4-Salsa Mango:
One would expect something spicy with a sweet touch... but we are left instead with an artificial fruity-gummy taste.
The verdict: unanimously awful! "This is the thing the worse that I have tasted in my life! I still have the taste in the mouth. After eating these chips, a part of me just died!"
#3-Cappuccino:
Definitely the flavor that has received the most publicity. After all, there is nothing similar in the market! Testers have found however that the taste was close to breakfast's cereals and these chips were more suitable as a breakfast than as a snack. The chips also have the same taste that remains in the mouth after drinking a cup of coffee!
The verdict: Skip it, and go to the next flavor!
#2-Mac & cheese with bacon:
A little less original and unfortunately, the bag contains no real piece of bacon as might be expected. The cheese and bacon taste are not too intense.
The verdict: the reviews are unanimously positive. "I would probably eat the entire bag if it was left in front of me". A good taste, but a lack of originality.
#1 - Wazabi & ginger:
A flavor of wasabi intense but well balanced by the sweetness of the ginger. Tasty, sweet, salty, spicy: this flavour has everything to please!
The verdict: by FAR the best flavor!
